Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson

I was on set at Sesame Street.

Here I am on the set of Sesame Street (with my sister, left, and my mom, right).

As you know, I’m obsessed with good television and ever since I can remember, some of my most magical moments have been peeking behind the curtain and seeing how it’s made.

How did I get to Sesame Street and Mr. Hooper’s? My dad knew Bob McGrath, who played the music teacher Bob Johnson. Bob died recently, but I’ll never forget the spark that was lit when he took us to the set.

And this was only the beginning. I guess my parents could see how much I loved it so over the years I saw more TV shows being filmed. There was Kate and Allie with my mom… and later The Late Show with David Letterman … I’m sure I was on the set of something when I worked at Comedy Central … and eventually Person of Interest, where I interviewed Michael Emerson for the first time … Girls, where I met Lena Dunham, Zosia Mamet and Jason Ritter … so many.

Here’s the kicker, friends—

Even after hundreds of interviews with celebrities I STILL get giddy when I see one of those yellow signs that point to a TV show being shot on location.

What can I say? It’s my jam!
