A lesson from my grandma
Throwback to before I was born (I think)...
My grandmother, Blanche, with her friends. My grandma (2nd from left) had a thriving social life and got all dressed up basically always (as far as I could tell). She lived in the Bronx, NY, and even though she never drove a car, she was constantly out and about.
When I was 17 and got my drivers license (woot!), I drove to her apartment to take her out to lunch. She loved it, but it was nothing compared to the little walk-around-the-neighborhood we did after lunch. She led me into practically every shop and friend's place to show off her granddaughter and beam about how I drove in from New Jersey just to take her to lunch.
Cheers to doing the things that make us--and others--happy.
